The Conference took place in Kyzyl, the capital of the Republic of Tuva, which is the poorest and least accessible part of Siberia.
The Republic of Tuva is about the size of South Korea, with a population of less than 400,000 people.
The local people speak a Mongolian dialect, even though they share the same ancestors as the Native American Indians.
Tuva is famous for its shamanism, throat singing, and local-style sumo wrestling.
The Conference was organized by Antonina Dashkina (Local Chapter President of Russia & Board Member of AASW).
The Conference was hosted by the Russian Union for Social Workers and Social Work Pedagogues in cooperation with the Asian Association for Social Welfare.
In total, the Conference hosted more than 700 delegates from Russia and across the globe (from as far as Australia and New Zealand).
